Site Survey Documentation

Our Site Survey Packages typically includes the following:

  • Dominant Server Analysis
  • Spectrum Analysis Snapshots for all Wireless Carriers
  • Transmitter Test Results (if required)
  • Floor Plans with Annotations
  • Safety and Building Code Requirements

Ambient Signal Strength Analysis (Optional)

tower3

Our Engineering Team will measure and record pre-existing in-building coverage levels provided by the macro network to determine potential interference issues and in-building system design requirements. Depending upon the customers' needs, our engineers will record signal strength and signal quality readings from mobile handset(s). If a more thorough analysis is necessary, we will perform a walk recording coverage analysis thorough building and service performance measurements using advanced RF scanning / recording equipment.

In-Building System Design

Link Budget Analysis

Our Engineering team has experience in developing link-budget analyses for multiple wireless technologies (iDEN, GSM, CDMA, 3G) for both coaxial cable and fiber optic systems. We provide a summary report of all losses and gains in the RF In-Building System for each distribution antenna. We will ensure that both the uplink and downlink RF paths are balanced.

In-Building Equipment Selection

Our Engineering team can evaluate and select in-building system components when requested by the customer or work within existing Carrier equipment selection guidelines. Based on the coverage requirements, RF link budget specifications, and customer aesthetic needs we can offer the following:

  • Repeaters
  • Fiber Equipment (Main Hubs, Expansion Hubs, and RAU’s)
  • Antennas: Donor Yagi, Corner Reflector, Parabolic Antennas, Distribution
  • Cable: Coaxial / Fiber Optic
  • Coaxial Components: Splitters, Directional Couplers, Connectors, etc.

Engineering Drawings - Design

Detailed design drawings are a critical component to any successful wireless in-building system installation. Our design drawings include equipment location and detailed installation instructions. All design drawings will match link budget analysis for each antenna. We use AutoCAD for all drawings and provide them in both hard and soft copy formats.

Site Survey

Dominant Server Analysis

Our Engineering Team will measure and record the dominant channel/carrier/PN received signal strength and also the signal quality for single or multiple wireless service providers.  From this data we determine potential donor sites and repeater requirements. We have experience and design experience which encompasses the following wireless technologies:

  • GSM
  • iDEN
  • CDMA
  • 3G

Spectrum Analysis and Snapshots

It is vital to obtain the proper repeater bandwidth, as well as gain and power requirements. Also, it is critical to identify and potential interference issues. Our Engineering team will record the spectrum analysis and take snapshots for each Wireless Carrier's bandwidth at all potential donor antenna locations.

Transmitter Tests

If necessary the Engineering team can perform transmitter tests to verify the path loss associated with complex in-building wireless applications.

Floor Plan

The link budget and design is critical. In order to create an accurate design, we document variations in the RF environment and pay special attention to any densely cluttered environments such as concrete walls, metal racks, etc. Our team has experience in surveying the following types of wireless applications:

  • Industrial Plants
  • Office Spaces
  • High Rise Buildings
  • Hospitals
  • Sports Arenas
  • Warehouses (some in excess of 1M square ft.)

Building Code and Customer Safety Requirement Documentation

tower3

Safety is our first priority. Understanding and documenting code and safety requirements for any project is critical to its success. These requirements can vary significantly from location to location. In some cases customer sites require all our workers to complete on-site training courses prior to being permitted to perform work on their premises. We understand and respond to customer requirements which can include:

  • Safety Training
  • Safety Equipment (clothing, harnesses, procedures, etc.)
  • Cable Fire Ratings
  • Union Labor

System Scope

Our team will ensure that coverage objects line up with on-site customers’ expectations during the site survey.
